The Irrigation Water Efficiency Management Plan (IWEMP) is a strategy introduced by the Queensland Water Commission to ensure that commercial water users are accountable for the efficient and sustainable use of our potable water supplies.
Those required to prepare an IWEMP are commercial premises and residential complexes with an irrigation area exceeding 500 square metres. The plan is prepared after a thorough inspection of the existing irrigation system. It documents the strategy to reduce water usage by implementing efficient irrigation practices and details optimal irrigation requirements for the property.
As a Certified Irrigation Professional and member of Irrigation Australia, Water Tactics can prepare an IWEMP and guide you through the compliance and submission process.
Many Brisbane residents don’t realise that lawn and garden irrigation using mains water is once again allowed under the Permanent Water Conservation Measures (PWCM) which came into force at the start of December 2009.
What that means for irrigation users is that you can now operate your automated irrigation system on any day EXCEPT Monday between the hours of 4pm and 10am for a maximum of 30 minutes providing your system complies with Queensland Water Commission Efficient Irrigation Guidelines.
Basically, for most domestic irrigation systems, installation of a rain or moisture sensor and ensuring that emitters are appropriately spaced will ensure compliance.
As a Certified Irrigation Professional and member of Irrigation Australia Limited, Water Tactics can ensure your irrigation system complies to QWC Efficient Irrigation Guidelines, prepare the official certification document and give you back the time to enjoy your lawn and garden.
